This page contains books that I’ve read, hope to read, or have been informed are good. It also contains some of my favorite music (Christian) and movies, as well as info on certain topics.
Books:
Humility- Andrew Murray, very good book, one of my dad‘s favorites.
Loving God- Chuck Colson, “a powerful reminder that we are to seek what we can do to please God, not to seek what He can do to please us.”-Contemporary Christian
Answers for Difficult Days- David Quine, Bible study of many of the fundamental doctrines.
The Mark of a Man- Elizabeth Elliot, great book for guys on growing into Godly men who will be good leaders in the future.
Steps to Revival- Pat Robertson, small booklet but powerful topic.
Thoughts for Young Men- J.C. Ryles, insights and cautions for young men.
Boys of Grit-
Maximized Manhood- E.L. Cole, for future leaders of families.
The Great Divorce- C.S. Lewis, deep in allegory and theology.
Mere Christianity- C.S. Lewis
Screwtape Letters- C.S. Lewis, this is one of my favorites on spiritual warfare, it may open your eyes to the reality of the spiritual realm.
Narnia Series- C.S. Lewis, a masterfully woven allegorical series.
Pilgrims Progress- John Bunyan, one of the best allegories ever written, illustrates the Christian walk through like.
Biographies:
God’s Smuggler- Brother Andrew, The story of the man whom God saved and then used to smuggle bibles into Communist countries.
Music:
Keith Green- His albums were recorded during the 70’s and are still relevant today. He sings songs on a wide variety themes, he sings with such passion and devotion that I can not help but be moved. He certainly had the Holy Spirit’s anointing on his ministry, he would even give his cd’s away on a donation basis. God had a reason for the tragic plane crash that killed him and some of his children, but we may never know that reason.
Michael Card- Still singing for the glory of God. I haven’t heard much of his recent music but I know he does some great songs.
Movies:
If a movie is listed here it does not indicate that there may not be objectionable content in the films. We often find scenes that we skip (in otherwise good films) because of their content.
Ben Hur- Powerfully depicts the power of sin and the fact that Jesus came to set the captives of sin free.
The Left Behind Series: The Movie, Tribulation Force, and World at War. While they are done by different directors and do not necessary flow together, they are masterfully depicted by Kirk Cameron and a stellar cast of supporting actors. If you look past the movie, but rather at what might actually happen during the Tribulation, you can see the fearful consequences of rejecting salvation and being LEFT BEHIND.
Sermons:
Humility- Pastor Kirk Brown (.mp3-12 mb)
